Latin music and jazz have enjoyed a long and happy association since they came together. When the legendary Be Bop innovator Dizzy Gillespie was introduced to the great Cuban percussionist Chano Pozo, together they created the music we call—Latin Jazz!
The exciting performances by Grammy winner and celebrated conguero Poncho Sanchez demonstrate to audiences why he is considered one of the leading percussionist in the world.
Grammy-nominated Tiempo Libre, a group of young musicians now based in Miami, all hail from Cuba. The group’s unique style of Cuban timba music combines elements of Son, Afro-Cuban beats, and jazz.
This evening’s pairing is so explosive it will remind everyone why Miami is the center of the hottest Latin music scene in the world.

KEITH JARETT, GARY PEACOCK and JACK DEJOHNETTE
Keith Jarrett, multi-platinum-selling artist and Downbeat Lifetime Achievement Award winner, moves effortlessly as a virtuoso pianist between classical and jazz. Jarrett came onto the scene in the 1960s with jazz great Art Blakey and then with the iconic Miles Davis. He became a star in his own right with his historic solo performances and with his all-star jazz trio.
This evening’s performance will feature the legendary Keith Jarrett Trio, with bassist Gary Peacock and drummer extraordinaire, Jack DeJohnette.

The key to the Miles Davis legend is— innovation! Universally considered one of the most important figures in music, Miles was tireless in his quest for musical exploration. This evening celebrates two distinct facets of his powerful legacy.
“Side A: Acoustically Speaking” Wallace Roney, the phenomenal trumpeter and carrier of the Miles Davis torch, was given his horn by Miles himself in 1983 and pays tribute to the master this evening with bass legend and multi Grammy winner Ron Carter and an all-star band.
“Side B: “Marcus Miller: Tutu Revisited featuring Christian Scott” Miles’ electric period is brought to life by bassist Marcus Miller, multi-Grammy winning producer and composer of Miles’ historic Tutu album, performed live on our stage.

3 Generations of Divas

This evening’s concert brings together for the first time, three celebrated singers who follow in the footsteps of the iconic female jazz vocalists of the past— Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Sarah Vaughn.
16-year old phenomenon Nikki Yanofsky was seen by millions around the world when she opened the 2010 Winter Olympics. Her love for Ella led her to record a tribute to the great diva.
Two-time Grammy nominee Jane Monheit has been featured on the award-winning PBS television series “LEGENDS OF JAZZ.” She brings the classics to a new generation.
Dianne Reeves, winner of four Grammys, was featured prominently throughout the critically acclaimed film Good Night and Good Luck. Today, Dianne is respected as the reigning queen of female jazz vocalists.

Guitar Virtuosos

The guitar is a true roots instrument that has been on the scene from the beginnings of American popular music. It has played a defining role in every form of music—from the blues and R&B to jazz and rock. Few artists rise to the level of sheer virtuosity as do these Guitar Virtuosos.
Al Di Meola, Grammy winning guitarist, first burst on the scene in Chick Corea’s historic Return to Forever band. It was just the beginning of a career spanning jazz, rock, Latin and flamenco styles. He is long considered one of the greatest technical players in the world.
Grammy-winning and multi-platinum artist Lee Ritenour , earned his nickname “Captain Fingers” for his virtuosic performances. He’s appeared on more than 3,000 recording sessions and recorded more than 40 albums. A pioneer of West Coast contemporary jazz, Lee is an internationally sought-after soloist, performing at every major jazz festival in the world.
